These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ShiftMyFile.com (the "Service"), operated by ShiftMyFile.com ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

We are not a law firm and this document should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before publication, especially regarding consumer rights compliance in your specific jurisdiction(s) of operation.

1. The Service

ShiftMyFile.com is a browser-based file conversion service. We offer a free anonymous trial of a few credits, a free tier with a one-time credit grant, a Pro subscription, and one-time credit pack purchases.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must verify your email address before using most features of the Service (see our verification process at registration).

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to convert files that infringe someone else's rights, contain illegal content, or that you do not have the right to process.
Attempt to circumvent usage limits, credit systems, or trial restrictions (including by creating multiple accounts to bypass the anonymous trial or free credit grant).
Attempt to compromise the security of the Service, including uploading files designed to exploit vulnerabilities in our conversion tools.
Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it, or interfere with any other party's use of it.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

4. Fees, credits, and subscriptions

Free tier: includes a one-time grant of free credits upon registration. Additional usage requires purchasing credits or subscribing to Pro.
Pro subscription: billed monthly at the price shown at checkout. Includes a monthly credit allowance that resets each billing period — unused credits from a given month do not carry over.
Credit packs: one-time purchases. Purchased credits do not expire and are not affected by Pro subscription renewals.
All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.

5. Refund policy

All purchases (credit packs and Pro subscription payments) are final and non-refundable, except where required by law.

Credits and Pro access are digital services that become available to you immediately upon successful payment. Under EU consumer protection law, the standard 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content/services once you have expressly requested immediate access and expressly acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal — which you confirm at the time of purchase (see the checkout confirmation).

This means: once you complete a purchase, we are not able to offer a refund for unused or partially-used credits, or for a Pro subscription period already paid for — including if you no longer wish to use the Service, purchased by mistake, or used only part of your credits before requesting a refund.

You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time via the billing portal to prevent future renewals; cancellation does not refund the current, already-paid billing period.

If you believe a payment was made in error due to a technical fault on our end (e.g. a duplicate charge caused by a system error), contact us at billing@shiftmyfile.com and we will investigate.

6. Your files and content

You retain all rights to the files you upload. We do not claim any ownership over your content. As described in our Privacy Policy, uploaded files are deleted immediately after conversion; converted output is available for download for a limited time and then automatically deleted.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and convert any file you submit to the Service.

7. Service availability and quality

We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some tools are best-effort in nature and their output quality can vary depending on your input file — where relevant, this is noted on the specific tool's page (for example, OCR accuracy depends on scan quality, and some conversions may require manual review of the result).

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShiftMyFile.com is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for fraud or gross negligence).

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Section 5 (refunds) survives termination — terminating your account does not entitle you to a refund of prior purchases.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll make this reasonably prominent on the site.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict of law principles, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
